Buying early matters more for accommodation than for tickets, since Hilton Head villa inventory goes first. Harbour Town's small footprint means you can comfortably see the whole course on foot in a single day.
Insider tip
The 18th at Harbour Town plays straight at the candy-striped lighthouse with the Calibogue Sound behind it - the marina boardwalk gives you that view for free-flowing spectating, and boats moored in the harbour double as private grandstands.
