How to attend

Spectator day and tournament tickets are sold through nzopen.com and are inexpensive, with children often free. Keen amateurs can apply for a paid pro-am berth through the amateur player section of the site, a premium package worth several thousand euros that includes rounds alongside the pros. Book Queenstown or Arrowtown accommodation far ahead, as late February is the region's busiest window.

Spectator entry is free for all ages and there is nothing to book - gates open at 6.30am daily, with on-site parking the only thing you pay for.

Insider tip

Amateurs with a handicap can buy their way into the field and play two rounds alongside touring professionals - it is one of the very few national opens in the world where a paying visitor can genuinely tee it up in the tournament.
