Every odd-numbered September, the Piedmont town where Slow Food was born fills its streets with the world's largest event dedicated to raw-milk and artisan cheese - affineurs, shepherds and natural-wine growers from dozens of countries. Entry to the town is free, and the atmosphere is closer to a joyful village fair than a trade show. The 2027 edition's exact dates await official confirmation.

How to attend

Wandering the street market costs nothing; Taste Workshops, masterclasses and pairing dinners are ticketed on cheese.slowfood.it a few months ahead and the best sessions go fast. Bra is reachable by train or car from Turin. Combine with the nearby Langhe wine country for a full Piedmont week.

Cheese is held every two years and the official site still covers the 2025 edition, so nothing for September 2027 is bookable yet.

Insider tip

Seek out the raw-milk affineurs in the Great Hall early in the day - the rare wheels they bring are cut and sold out by mid-afternoon.
