Northern Lights & Arctic Luxury
Northern Lights & Arctic Luxury takes place Sep 2026 - Apr 2027 (peak Jan - Mar) in Tromsø, Norway. The dress code is Serious Arctic layers: thermal base, mid-layer fleece or wool, insulated parka, snow boots, hat and gloves. Smart-casual indoors at Tromso restaurants and bars. Typical cost ranges from 1500 to 4500 EUR per person.

Tromso sits under the auroral oval at 69 degrees north, which is why it has become the world's most reliable base for hunting the northern lights. The season runs from late August to early April, with the deepest dark and strongest displays from January to March. Days are filled with husky sledding, reindeer camps and fjord cruises; nights are spent in glass-roof cabins or chasing clear sky inland.

How to attend
This is a destination season rather than a ticketed event, so you build it yourself: fly into Tromso, base in the city or a fjord lodge, and book aurora tours night by night. Small-group minibus chases run roughly EUR 130 - 200 per person and are sold by local operators online and through hotel desks; glass-roof cabins and wilderness camps run from around EUR 300 to well over EUR 1,000 a night. Everything is open to the public with no membership or ballot. Give yourself at least three nights, since a single clouded-out night is common.
This is a destination season rather than a ticketed event - nothing is sold centrally, so you book flights, a bed and individual aurora tours yourself.
Insider tip
Book a chase tour that guarantees it will drive - the best operators will cross into Finland or Sweden on a cloudy night to find clear sky, which fixed-location camps cannot do.
