One of the world's largest offshore races, a roughly 350-nautical-mile lap of the island of Gotland starting from Sandhamn in the Stockholm archipelago, run by KSSS since 1937. Hundreds of boats enter, from Olympic-level professionals to weekend crews, and it is a fixture of the Swedish summer. The race village turns a tiny archipelago village into a festival for the best part of a week.

How to attend
The race village at Sandhamn is a free public festival with the start and finish both in view; reach it by Waxholmsbolaget or Cinderella ferry from Stockholm or Stavsnas. Racing is by boat entry through KSSS, and crew berths circulate through Swedish sailing clubs and crew-finder channels in the months beforehand. Note that the 2026 edition has already run - the next start is 4 July 2027.

Insider tip
Sandhamn has almost no accommodation, so most people take the Cinderella boat out for the day - check the last return sailing before you settle in at the race village.
