G! Festival
G! Festival takes place Mid-Jul 2027 (2026 ran Jul 16 - 18 and sold out; 2027 dates announced in the autumn) in Syðrugøta, Faroe Islands. The dress code is Casual and genuinely weatherproof: hard-shell waterproof jacket, layers, sturdy boots. Faroese weather turns in minutes even in July. Typical cost ranges from 400 to 1100 EUR per person.

An open-air music festival on a black-sand beach in the Faroese village of Sydrugota, where the stage sits between steep green mountains and the North Atlantic. Faroese and international acts play through near-endless summer light while the crowd swims in the sea between sets. It is the cultural high point of the year for a nation of about 55,000 people.

How to attend
Full-festival and day tickets are sold through gfestival.fo, usually released in winter or early spring, and recent editions have sold out. Expect roughly EUR 150 - 350 for a full pass, with camping available on site. It is open to anyone. The binding constraint is getting to the islands: Atlantic Airways and SAS fly into Vagar and seats plus accommodation vanish long before the festival does, so book travel before you have tickets in hand.
The official ticket form closed at the end of July 2026 and nothing has been listed for 2027 yet - passes usually go back on sale through gfestival.fo in winter or early spring.
Insider tip
The ocean swim between sets is not a gimmick - people genuinely do it, there is a sauna on the beach, and it is the single thing everyone remembers.
