Australia's greatest touring-car race, 1,000km of Supercars around Mount Panorama, a circuit that is a public mountain road with houses on it for 50 weeks of the year. The elevation change, the concrete walls across the top and the Conrod straight make it genuinely intimidating. The camping crowd on the mountain is a national institution in its own right.

Insider tip

Mount Panorama is a public road for most of the year, so drive a lap yourself at the 60km/h limit before the track closes for race week - it is the only way to understand how steep and narrow it actually is.
