The most beautiful classic car concours in the world, staged each May in the gardens of the Grand Hotel Villa d'Este at Cernobbio on Lake Como. A pre-selected field of historic cars competes for the Coppa d'Oro alongside a concept car class from current manufacturers. Saturday belongs to hotel guests and invitees; on Sunday the entire field moves to Villa Erba for the public.

How to attend
Saturday at Villa d'Este is closed to the public - access comes with a hotel stay or a manufacturer invitation. The Sunday concours at Villa Erba is genuinely open, with tickets sold online in advance from around February at roughly 30 to 40 euros for adults, plus paddock and premium options. Buy early, because the Sunday allocation is capped and lakeside traffic that weekend makes turning up at the gate a poor plan.
Saturday at Villa d'Este is closed to the public, and the Sunday public tickets for Villa Erba are not on sale yet - they normally go online a few months before the May weekend.

Take the Sunday Villa Erba ticket and arrive by lake ferry rather than car - the whole field parades down to Villa Erba in the morning and you see every car at close quarters without the invitation-only Saturday price.
