An indigenous film festival in the Sami village of Inari, famous for screenings projected onto a snow screen in an outdoor theatre built of packed snow. It gathers Sami and indigenous filmmakers from across the Arctic and beyond, and watching cinema at -20C under a black polar sky is one of the most atmospheric film experiences on earth.

How to attend
Tickets are sold through Lippu.fi, linked from skabmagovat.fi, and at the festival's own sales points at Sajos and Siida during the event. Pre-sale closes 15 minutes before each screening and the organiser warns that numbers are limited, so buy in advance; prices are modest, roughly 10 - 30 EUR. Inari's handful of hotels go first. Fly Helsinki to Ivalo, transfer 40 minutes north, and confirm the exact late-January dates once the program is announced.
