Giraglia Rolex Cup, Saint-Tropez, France, Mid-Jun 2027 (inshore series off Saint-Tropez then the offshore start to Genoa; the 2026 offshore start was Jun 13)

An early-summer Mediterranean classic dating to 1953: several days of inshore racing off Saint-Tropez, then a 241-nautical-mile offshore leg around the Giraglia rock at the northern tip of Corsica, finishing in Genoa. It is run jointly by the Yacht Club Italiano and the Societe Nautique de Saint-Tropez and draws a serious international fleet. The event now sails as the Loro Piana Giraglia, Rolex having ended its title sponsorship.

How to attend

Free to watch the inshore racing and the offshore start from the Saint-Tropez old port quays and the mole, and later from Genoa's Porto Antico as boats finish. Racing entry requires a suitable rated boat and affiliation to a recognised yacht club, registered through the Yacht Club Italiano, with entries opening in the spring. Harbourside restaurant terraces on the Saint-Tropez quay are the paid alternative to a spectator boat and need booking well ahead. Crew places occasionally surface through Italian and French offshore crew networks in May.

Free to watch the inshore racing and the offshore start from the Saint-Tropez quays; the Yacht Club Italiano sells no spectator ticket and only registers competing boats.

Insider tip

Hotel Sube's first-floor bar looks straight down the Saint-Tropez mole and is the best seat in town for the offshore start without getting on a boat - go an hour early, because it fills with owners and crew.
