How to attend
Register online at engadin-skimarathon.ch. It is open to the public with no qualification required, entry fees rise as the date approaches, and a 21 km half marathon runs the same day for those not ready for the full distance. Spectating is completely free from the villages along the route and the S-chanf finish, and the Rhaetian Railway runs the length of the valley so you can leapfrog the field by train.
Insider tip
Your start block decides your time more than your fitness does - the early groups clear the frozen-lake sections before the field concertinas, while later blocks can lose serious minutes queuing at the first climb.
