The year's first Grand Slam, played on blue hard courts at Melbourne Park across three weeks in the southern-hemisphere summer. It is the most festival-like of the four majors: live music stages, bars and food precincts run alongside the tennis, and roofed arenas keep play going through heat and rain. Ground passes put you within a few metres of seeded players on the outer courts.

How to attend

Open to the public. Ground passes and reserved show-court seats sell through Ticketmaster from around October, with AO Club members getting a pre-sale window first. Ground passes are the cheapest entry and cover every court except Rod Laver, Margaret Court and John Cain arenas; separate cheaper night ground passes are released for evening entry. Melbourne Park is a 15 minute walk or a short tram ride from Federation Square, so no transfers are needed.
