Verbier Festival, Verbier, Switzerland, Jul 16 - Aug 2, 2026; next edition mid-Jul to early Aug 2027

A summer classical festival that brings world-class orchestras, soloists and rising Academy students to a ski resort at 1,500 m for roughly two and a half weeks and 60-plus concerts. Marquee evening performances fill the Salle des Combins and the village church, while masterclasses and fringe events run free through the day. The mix of serious programming, mountain hiking and a well-heeled international patron crowd is what makes it distinct.

How to attend

Tickets are sold through verbierfestival.com and ticketing.verbierfestival.com, typically in the CHF 30 - 220 range, with the box office reachable by phone and email daily. It is open to the public, but headline galas sell out fast so book as soon as the programme is announced in spring. Many masterclasses, Academy sessions and fringe concerts are free and walk-in, which makes a low-budget visit entirely viable. Reserve accommodation months ahead.

The 2027 programme has not been announced yet, so the festival's own box office currently lists no concerts at all - tickets go on sale once the line-up is published in the spring.

Insider tip

The Academy masterclasses and orchestra rehearsals are free and often the best hours of the day - the soloist you paid to hear at night is usually teaching in the morning.
