Tour Auto Optic 2000
Tour Auto Optic 2000 takes place Late Apr - early May 2027 (route and dates confirmed the previous autumn) in Paris, France. The dress code is Casual for roadside spectating; the Grand Palais scrutineering evening in Paris is a distinctly smarter, stylish affair. Free to attend; budget up to 2000 EUR per person for hospitality and extras.

A week-long classic car tour that leaves Paris and crosses France, mixing long road sections with timed stages on closed roads and race circuits, reviving the old Tour de France Automobile. The field is pre-1974 competition and GT machinery driven properly rather than paraded. It opens with all the cars displayed under the glass roof of the Grand Palais, which is the single best photo opportunity of the European season.

How to attend
Roadside spectating along the route and at circuit stages is free - the itinerary is published on peterauto.fr each winter. Access to the Grand Palais scrutineering display in Paris is granted by buying the official programme, typically around EUR 15 to 20 on the day. Competing means applying as an entrant with an eligible pre-1974 car; entry fees run well into five figures and the field is selected.
Watching from the roadside and at the circuit stages is free, so there is nothing to book; the only paid element is the Grand Palais scrutineering display, and the 2027 listing is not published yet.
Insider tip
The Grand Palais scrutineering on the eve of the start is the best value in French classic motoring - the price of a programme puts you inches from more than 200 cars arranged under the glass roof, with no barriers and no crowd control.
