Havana Biennial
Havana Biennial takes place Nov 2027 - Feb 2028 (16th edition, expected; confirm before booking) in Havana, Cuba. The dress code is Light casual tropical wear; comfortable shoes for walking venues across Old Havana and the Malecon. Typical cost ranges from 200 to 800 EUR per person.

A pioneering biennial founded in 1984 to platform artists of the Global South, long the great alternative to the Western fair circuit. Exhibitions spread through galleries, streets, studios and the seafront Malecon, most of them free. Editions shift with Cuba's circumstances, so dates firm up late - the 16th edition is expected around late 2027.

How to attend
Most exhibitions and public projects are free and open across the city once the edition opens. Confirm dates through the Wifredo Lam Center before committing to travel, sort the tourist card/visa (US travellers should check current restrictions), and base yourself in Old Havana or Vedado to cover venues on foot.
Almost everything in the biennial is free and open across the city, and the organisers' own website is offline, so there is nothing to book.
Insider tip
Venues cluster in Old Havana, Vedado and along the Malecon but signage is thin - a local artist guide or curator-led walk transforms the experience.
