Geilo & Hemsedal Ski Weekend
Geilo & Hemsedal Ski Weekend takes place Feb - Mar 2027 in Geilo / Hemsedal, Norway. The dress code is Technical ski layers on the hill; apres-ski in both resorts is relaxed Scandinavian - good knitwear, jeans and boots, nothing formal. Bring proper cold-weather gear, it is colder than the Alps. Typical cost ranges from 900 to 2600 EUR per person.

Norway's two best-known alpine resorts, three hours from Oslo, offering long dry-cold seasons and snow reliability the Alps cannot match. Geilo is the older, gentler resort with a genuine grand hotel and direct trains from Oslo and Bergen; Hemsedal is steeper, younger and home to the strongest apres-ski scene in Scandinavia. It is a ski weekend rather than a fixed event, so you choose your own dates.

How to attend
Fully open to the public with no tickets or ballots. Lift passes are sold online through SkiStar for Hemsedal and directly by the resort for Geilo, with day passes typically in the NOK 500 - 650 range and multi-day passes cheaper per day. Accommodation is the real constraint: the best cabins and hotel rooms are taken 4 - 6 months ahead for February and Easter. Trains from Oslo to Geilo are the easiest car-free route.
There is no event ticket - you buy a lift pass from each resort and book your own accommodation, so there is no single page to click through to.
Insider tip
Geilo is the one you can reach without a car - the Bergen Line drops you a few minutes from the lifts - while Hemsedal has the steeper terrain and by far the louder apres, so pick by what you actually want from the weekend.
