Food & Fun Festival, Reykjavik, Iceland, Late Feb - early Mar 2027 (dates TBC; 2026 edition ran Feb 25 - Mar 1)

Each winter, visiting international chefs take over Reykjavik's best restaurants and cook set menus built exclusively from Icelandic ingredients - lamb, langoustine, skyr, seabirds - capped by a competitive cook-off between them. It is fine dining wrapped in midwinter cosiness, timed perfectly for Northern Lights season. The 2026 edition has passed; the festival traditionally returns in late winter.

How to attend

Reserve directly with participating restaurants (many via dineout.is or foodandfun.is) once the line-up publishes - the standout guest-chef menus book out fast. Menus are fixed-price multi-course affairs, typically 100 - 200 EUR with wine. Open to anyone with a reservation; pair it with a Blue Lagoon or aurora excursion.

You book directly with each restaurant through the festival's booking partner, but the 2027 line-up has not been published so there is nothing to reserve yet.

Insider tip

Pick your restaurant by the visiting chef rather than the venue - the whole point is a fixed menu you could never otherwise eat in Iceland, so read the chef bios before booking.
