Durga Puja
Durga Puja takes place Mid Oct 2026 (main days approx Oct 16 - 21, Shashthi to Vijaya Dashami) in Kolkata, India.
A ten-day festival of worship of the goddess Durga, held in Kolkata each September or October. Months beforehand, workshops sculpt the idols from clay taken from the Ganga, and eyes are painted on at the start of the worship. Members come to walk between the large installations and pavilions and to hear traditional Bengali drumming. On the tenth day the idols are immersed in the river the clay came from.
