A winter-solstice arts festival run by Tasmania's provocative MONA museum, mixing avant-garde art, experimental music, fire, feasting and ritual in the cold and dark. Many installations and the solstice swim are free; headline concerts and Winter Feast sessions are ticketed via darkmofo.net.au once the programme drops (usually April - May). The festival routinely sells out the whole city, so book flights and accommodation the day the program is announced. Hobart is compact and walkable between venues.
