Bjerke Racecourse Oslo, Oslo, Norway, Season May - Oct 2026; Norwegian Trotting Derby early Sep 2026, Oslo Grand Prix mid-Jun 2027

Norway's national arena for harness racing, set in northeast Oslo and running meetings most weeks outside the summer school break. The Oslo Grand Prix in June is the international showpiece, drawing the best Scandinavian and continental trotters, while the Norwegian Trotting Derby in September is the domestic classic. It is a low-key, unpretentious afternoon: betting slips, hot dogs, and a knowledgeable local crowd rather than a fashion parade.

There is no invitation-only tier, so the main upgrade is a seated dinner package. Take the metro or bus to Bjerke from central Oslo in about 20 minutes.

Insider tip

Bjerke is a harness (trotting) track, not a gallop course - if you want thoroughbred flat racing in Norway, head instead to Ovrevoll in Baerum; the Oslo Grand Prix in June is the one meeting where the grandstand genuinely fills.
