Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta, Port Klang, Malaysia, Nov 13 - 21, 2026

A nine-day hybrid of overnight passage racing and inshore regattas that works its way up Malaysia's west coast under the patronage of the Selangor royal family. The fleet starts at Port Klang and stops at Pangkor and the old spice port of Penang before finishing at Langkawi with a royal prize-giving. It is as much a coastal road trip as a regatta, and the hospitality at each stopover is why crews come back.

How to attend

Every start and finish can be watched free from the marinas at Port Klang, Pangkor, Penang and Langkawi, and the shoreside functions are broadly open. To race, enter a boat or join the crew register via the Notice of Race at rmsir.com, which typically appears around mid-year. The easiest way in as a visitor is to build a west-coast Malaysia trip around one stopover rather than chasing the fleet up the coast.

There is no ticket to buy - every start and finish can be watched free from the marinas at Port Klang, Pangkor, Penang and Langkawi, and the official site only handles boat entries.

Insider tip

Do not try to follow the whole nine days - pick the Penang stopover, where the fleet ties up under the colonial waterfront and the crew party is the best of the week.
