Jerash Festival of Culture and Arts, Jerash, Jordan, Late Jul - early Aug 2026 (typically a 10 - 14 day run)

A summer festival of Arab and international music, dance, poetry and theatre staged among the exceptionally preserved Greco-Roman ruins of Jerash. Performances fill the ancient South Theatre and colonnaded Forum while craft markets and folklore troupes animate the site each evening. Few festivals anywhere offer this collision of living culture and antiquity at such low cost.

How to attend

Tickets are inexpensive and sold at the gate and through the festival's official channels once the program is announced each summer; site entry also requires the Jerash archaeological ticket (covered by the Jordan Pass). Jerash is an easy evening trip roughly 50 km north of Amman by taxi or driver. Performances run after dark, so plan a late return.

There is no online sale - the festival publishes its nightly schedule and tickets are bought cheaply at the gate, on top of the Jerash site entry ticket.

Insider tip

Aim for a headline night in the Roman South Theatre - the 2,000-year-old acoustics are remarkable, and a cushion makes the stone seating bearable.
