Fes Festival of World Sacred Music, Fez, Morocco, Late May - early Jun 2027 (dates TBA; 2026 edition ran Jun 4 - 7)

A festival gathering sacred and spiritual music traditions from around the world - Sufi devotional song, gospel, qawwali, early European music - performed in the palaces, gardens and gates of the Fez medina. Founded in 1994 to promote intercultural dialogue, it pairs grand ticketed evenings at Bab Al Makina with free courtyard rituals. Few settings match a mystic voice echoing off 13th-century walls.

How to attend

Buy individual concert tickets (roughly 5 - 20 EUR) or a festival pass via the official site fesfestival.com once the 2027 program is announced. Flagship evening concerts at Bab Al Makina are ticketed; daytime shows in Jnan Sbil Gardens and the nightly Sufi Nights at Dar Tazi are free and open to all. Book riads inside the medina early.

The 2027 line-up has not been announced and the festival only opens its online ticket shop once the programme is published in the spring.

Insider tip

The free late-night Sufi Nights at Dar Tazi are the festival's spiritual core - arrive by 22:00 for a spot under the courtyard trees.
