Dubai to Muscat Offshore Sailing Race, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Starts Mar 20, 2027 (34th edition, boats finish in Muscat over the following days)

A roughly 360-nautical-mile offshore race from Dubai around the mountainous Musandam Peninsula to Muscat, run since 1992 by the Dubai Offshore Sailing Club. It is the longest keelboat race in the Gulf, threading busy shipping lanes and the cliffs near the Strait of Hormuz. For Gulf-based crews it is the season's serious test rather than a social regatta.

How to attend

There is no ticket: the start off Jumeirah beach at DOSC is free to watch and the club is open to visitors on race day. To sail it you need a keelboat meeting offshore safety category requirements with a qualified crew, entered through DOSC, with entries typically opening a few months out. Crew berths occasionally appear on the DOSC noticeboard and in Gulf sailing groups for experienced hands, and the finish at Marina Bandar Al Rowdha in Muscat is the more atmospheric end if you can only pick one.

There is no spectator ticket - the start off Jumeirah beach is free to watch and Dubai Offshore Sailing Club opens to visitors on race day, while entry is only for boats and crews registered through the club.

Insider tip

Watch the afternoon start from the DOSC beach and then follow the official tracker - the finish is days later and 360 nautical miles away, so almost nobody sees both ends.
